Each line on the map is a licensed fixed point-to-point microwave
link filed with the Federal Communications Commission. Links connect two structures —
towers, rooftops, and other fixed sites — that a licensee named as transmit and receive
points in its authorization.
The map is built from the FCC Universal Licensing System (ULS) weekly bulk extract. It
is a filing snapshot, not a live network map. Nothing here observes a signal. A link shown
here was authorized; it may never have been built, may have been retired, or may carry
traffic unrelated to the original filing.
These links carry private-network traffic for broadcast backhaul, utility control,
financial connectivity, and cell-site backhaul — fixed routes that rarely appear on
consumer coverage maps.

Paths quarantined during ingest as implausible geometry are kept in a sidecar, not on the
map. Below zoom 6 in tile mode the map shows link density per cell, not every individual
link. Roughly half of structures in the corpus name no city in the filing, so place search
cannot resolve every location name.
